Role description
We are seeking to establish a pool of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Role
If you are passionate about Indigenous education and culture and are seeking a meaningful and rewarding career, we invite you to join our team as an AIEO and help support our students to thrive!
The AIEO plays a vital role in creating a supportive, inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Working closely with teachers, students and families, the AIEO helps strengthen connections between the school and community while supporting the development of culturally relevant learning experiences that inspire students to engage and succeed.
Through mentoring, encouragement and pastoral care, the AIEO provides valuable guidance to students, particularly those who may need additional support, helping them build confidence and participate fully in school life.
AIEOs bring an important cultural perspective to the school community, promoting respect, understanding and strong relationships across the school. The role also involves working alongside the local Aboriginal community to support their involvement in school programs and initiatives, conducting home visits where appropriate, and helping staff develop a deeper understanding of the local community and culture.
