Your RoleWe are seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will assist Principals and finance staff with management and financial accounting functions, including budgeting, compliance and financial management, across their portfolio of schools. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication and engagement skills to support school and college stakeholders in managing financial responsibilities and supporting informed financial decision-making. This is a full-time continuing position, with the commencement date to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Whilst the role is based in Rockhampton, travel in support of schools and colleges is required.Typical duties include, but are not limited:Provide guidance and support to schools in all aspects of financial management, including CEDR policies and procedures, Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, treasury and banking processes, and school fees and debt collection. Assist schools with the development and monitoring of annual budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis;Provide guidance to principals and finance officers/managers on matters related to the recurrent and targeted funding, including related expenditure;Support schools and colleges with end of month processes and reconciliations;Contribute to the development and review of financial policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and compliance across all supported schools.Undertake financial management assurance program procedures within schools and colleges; Perform other selected duties as directed by the Assistant Director: Business and Strategy and the Finance Manager. About youThe successful applicant will hold a degree in accounting, commerce or equivalent, have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills. This role is ideally suited to an experienced accountant; however, applications from Graduate Accountants are also encouraged (commencing salary of $92,664), with progression to the above salary range as proficiency and independence are demonstrated.
