About Aboriginal Teaching and Learning

Role description


This is a permanent full-time position commencing in June 2026

The Aboriginal Teaching and Learning Directorate leads, influences and supports cultural responsiveness across the organisation to drive system transformation. We support effective leadership and teaching to build culturally responsive schools that create the conditions for Aboriginal students and families to experience cultural safety. Our team develops resources and professional learning to help build the professional capability of school and system staff. We provide advice and guidance to influence system strategy and policy, and whole-of-government priorities and initiatives that support and strengthen the cultural safety, wellbeing, engagement and learning of Aboriginal children and young people.

The Role

The Consultant supports the work of the Directorate by providing advice and guidance to school and system staff on culturally responsive approaches, including strengthened relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal students, families and communities. In this role, you will contribute to the development of resources and professional learning to support and strengthen student wellbeing, engagement and learning and assist with arranging consultation forums in relation to the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework.
