Primary objective
The principal plays a vital role in delivering the strategic plan of the Department of Education and is the leading educational professional at Bonya School, who inspires students, staff, and community members to optimise the learning of all students.
Context statement
Bonya School is a remote, very small primary school located 320km northeast of Alice Springs in the community of Bonya, also known as Ortippa Thurra. The population of Bonya is approximately 70 predominantly Eastern Arrernte people. As it is a small remote community, health and police services are provided from Harts Range, approximately 100km west. The school caters for students from Preschool to Year 7 and is supported by the Remote Schools Support Unit in Alice Springs as a member of the Remote Small Schools Network. It operates across the spectrum of the Australian curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework. The principal has the responsibility to manage school operations as a leader of a small workforce.
