Role
The Technology Domain Assistant (Wood/Metal) supports the safe and effective delivery of practical classes within the Technology learning area. The role focuses on preparing materials, maintaining workshops and equipment, and assisting teachers and students to ensure a safe, organised, and productive learning environment
Responsibilities
Workshop Preparation & Classroom Support
- Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for wood and metal classes
- Set up and pack down practical learning activities
- Assist teachers during classes where required (under supervision)
- Support students with basic use of tools and equipment as directed by teaching staff
Equipment & Tool Maintenance
- Maintain hand tools and machinery in wood and metal workshops
- Conduct routine checks to ensure tools and equipment are safe and operational
- Arrange repairs and servicing of machinery as required
- Keep maintenance records and report faults promptly
Safety & Compliance
- Report any OH&S and maintenance issues the Domain Leader or HSR.
- Assist in maintaining safe storage of tools, equipment, and hazardous materials
- Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by students
- Maintain clean, hazard-free workspaces
