Role description
Selection Criteria
Specialist knowledge in the area of Pediatric Occupational Therapy with clinical experience delivering a comprehensive occupational therapy service. Experience within an educational setting preferable but not essential.
Demonstrated understanding of the effects autism spectrum disorder can have on the motor and sensory development of children and a sound understanding of Sensory Integration theory and its applicability as a treatment.
Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with teaching teams to devise programs that extend a student¿s ability to adapt to a range of contexts, particularly the classroom and home environments.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult with and advise other professionals providing services to students.
Role
The Position
The Occupational Therapist will provide consultancy services to teachers and teacher assistants regarding student¿s occupational performance. Consultancy services primarily focus on the provision of recommendations to teaching staff regarding programs for students in a school context.
The Occupational Therapist will provide support to classroom staff, including discussion, modeling and guidance regarding the implementation of recommendations.
The successful applicant will work at Warringa Park School in a full-time capacity in a multidisciplinary team which includes another part-time Occupational Therapist.
