Role description
Selection Criteria
SC1: Demonstrated experience in working with young people, particularly those who may be disengaged or facing barriers to learning, and the capacity to build positive and respectful relationships.
SC2: Demonstrated knowledge of student wellbeing approaches, including trauma-informed and strengths-based practices, and the ability to apply these in a school or youth setting.
SC3: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers and wellbeing staff, to support student engagement and learning outcomes.
SC4: Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with students, families, and external support services.
SC5: Demonstrated capacity to support students with diverse needs, including students with disability, additional learning needs and/or neurodiversity.
SC6: Demonstrated commitment to child safety, inclusion and the values of public education.
Role
The Youth Worker supports student engagement, wellbeing and participation in learning. Working under direction, the role contributes to the delivery of educational and wellbeing support programs for students experiencing social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
The position works collaboratively with teachers, the Student Wellbeing Team and school leadership to provide consistent, student-centred support that enables young people to access learning, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.
