Position Information
Wewak Street School is located in Albury, on the New South Wales and Victorian border. The school has an enrolment of 69 students which caters for students aged from 4 to 18 years with moderate or severe intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Some students also have language or sensory impairments and/or physical disabilities. The school has 10 classes with mixed ability of 7 to 8 students in each class, with 18% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Each class is supported with a School Learning Support Officer.
The focus is explicit teaching of literacy and numeracy which is differentiated at point of need. The school is ensuring a greater understanding of assessment approaches using Passport for Learning and the PLAN Data platforms giving teachers and parents/carers additional support in identifying growth targets in literacy specifically reading and numeracy.
