This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Quality Teaching Branch, within the Teaching Quality and Innovation Directorate of the Professional Capability Division, leads system-wide strategies to strengthen teaching excellence and improve student outcomes. It designs and delivers profession-led support, develops evidence-informed resources, and drives initiatives that build teacher capability across all schools, with a strong focus on equity and improved outcomes for students who need it most.

Within this context, the Branch leads the Aboriginal Languages Teacher Training program, which provides language-specific teacher training and supports language revitalisation and maintenance across schools. The program ensures educators have access to high-quality training, culturally responsive resources, and ongoing professional learning to sustain and strengthen Aboriginal language teaching in classrooms across the state.

The Role

The Principal Education Officer - Aboriginal Languages will play a lead role in the provision of high-level specialist advice on the development and delivery of the Department’s Aboriginal Languages Teacher Training program. This role provides high-level expert advice to inform the design and development of system-wide strategies that strengthen whole-school approaches and improve the quality of Aboriginal language teaching, student achievement and educational outcomes.
