MLC School is seeking a highly organised and experienced Science Laboratory Manager to join our Senior School Science Department. This full-time, permanent role (term-time plus 4 weeks) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic learning environment that inspires young women to be fearless thinkers and agents of change.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Science, the Laboratory Manager will coordinate and support practical science work across the department. You will manage laboratory operations, ensure compliance with WHS standards, and lead a small team to deliver high-quality technical support for science teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain equipment and materials for science practical lessons.
- Support teaching staff with experiment planning and data logging tools (Pasco).
- Manage inventory, ordering, and safe storage/disposal of chemicals and biological materials.
- Supervise laboratory staff and oversee daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with WHS, WorkCover, and other relevant legislation.
- Assist with budgeting and liaise with suppliers and contractors.
- Lead staff induction, training, and performance development.
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional with:
- A relevant qualification in Applied Science (e.g. Diploma or Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques).
- Experience in a school science laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of WHS procedures and laboratory management.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
