Primary objective
As a member of the school leadership team, provide leadership and guidance to achieve optimal educational outcomes for students across the school.
Context statement
Barunga School is a public school located in the remote Aboriginal community of Barunga, catering for approximately 100 students (childcare to Year 12). The student cohort is composed of 100% Indigenous and 99% English as a Second Language students. As a community school, our focus for improvement is ‘Boosting Literacy and Numeracy’, ‘Raising School Attendance and holding families accountable’, and ‘Creating Pathways to Real Jobs’. We will achieve this through quality teaching, focussed PGPs, high expectations, maintaining community partnerships and whole of school practices. Key initiatives include RWInc, LtD, LoC, VET, inclusive practices and strong use of our whole school curriculum work. Student wellbeing is nurtured through the Berry Street Educational Model.
