About Work Health Safety and Wellbeing

Role description


This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP

The Department’s Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing Directorate comprises two branches: Safety and Staff Wellbeing and the Employee Support Services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that legislative frameworks are complied with and that employee’s mental health and wellbeing are supported. It provides strategic and operational advice to the Minister, Director General, school leaders and line managers on a range of matters including:

  • workers’ compensation
  • injury management
  • work health and safety (WHS)
  • staff wellbeing
  • employee assistance and mediation programs.

The Role

School principals are the cornerstone of successful schools – they are leading the delivery of quality teaching and creating the conditions where every student achieves their potential.  The Department of Education is committed to recognising and supporting our school leaders to thrive and deliver on our commitment to their wellbeing.

This role is expected to lead delivery and ongoing development of the Principal Wellbeing Program to strengthen individual and system level interventions to optimise principal wellbeing.  In this role, you will provide high-level wellbeing professional advice and contribute to the design and delivery of practical resources, support materials and initiatives that strengthen principal wellbeing.
