Role description

The Team

The Intensive Family Engagement Service (IFES) supports families that are assessed as experiencing complex issues impacting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. The delivery of support aims to build capacity in the family to provide a safe and stable home environment for the children and young people.

The IFES team is a dynamic, child focused service dedicated to family preservation and strengthening parental capacity. We work collaboratively with families, community partners, and other support services to ensure children can remain safe, supported, and connected to their families wherever possible. Our team is committed to being a highly supportive, reflective, and solution focused. About the Role

The Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1997 provides the legal mandate for the department to take action to protect children and young people from abuse and neglect and promote their safety stability and development. Child Safety Workers have a specific statutory role in protecting children and young people from harm and promoting their rights and healthy development. In Tasmania, Child Support Officers work within a legislative framework, the Child Protection Practice Framework, and the Child Protection Professional Practice Standards (attached).
