Role description

Selection Criteria

 

1. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives, and the ability to embed these authentically across the primary school curriculum.

 

2. Demonstrated ability to improve student outcomes, particularly in literacy, numeracy, engagement and attendance, through targeted and culturally appropriate strategies.

 

3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and sustain respectful relationships with students, families, community members and Elders.

 

4. Demonstrated capacity to lead and contribute to whole-school initiatives that promote a positive, culturally safe and inclusive school environment.

 

5. Demonstrated organisational and professional skills, including the ability to work flexibly across multiple settings, contribute to strategic priorities (such as the Marrung Aboriginal Education Plan), and maintain high professional standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in education would be highly regarded. 

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and knowledge of Koorie culture and history.

  • Proven ability to build relationships with government agencies (including DE), Indigenous students and stakeholders fostering positive educational pathways and cultural safety.
