Primary objective

As a senior member of the school’s leadership team, the Assistant Principal plays a key role in the leadership, development and delivery of programs to the Tennant Creek Primary School community to achieve optimal educational outcomes for students, including providing leadership and driving curriculum and pedagogy. A core responsibility of this position would be to lead the Early Years area of schooling in curriculum delivery of literacy and numeracy.

Context statement

Tennant Creek Primary School is a remote school based in Tennant Creek, which is approximately 500kms north of Alice Springs. The school has approximately 500 enrolments which is inclusive of Families as First Teachers (FaFT), Pre-school, Primary, Special Education Learning Centre and Mungkarta Homelands schooling contexts. The Primary School cohort includes 75% of students who are Indigenous, with 70% coming from English as an additional language/dialect (EAL/D) backgrounds.
