About the role

The successful applicant will:

  • Be committed to Catholic education and the safety and wellbeing of young people
  • Be committed to working as part of a collaborative team that works together to maximise learning for every student
  • Assist the teacher to implement strategies that have been decided upon at Program Support Meetings (PSGs) and/or Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) and develop excellent rapport with students, teachers, parents and visiting consultants.
  • Be aware of the class teacher’s expectations and learning intentions for the class and the teaching method and strategies the students will be using
  • Support individuals and groups of students using a variety of intervention programs
  • Be open to feedback for growth and act upon it appropriately
  • Be committed to continuous professional learning
  • Keep appropriate records as required
  • Work effectively as part of a team providing mutual support, sharing observations, expertise and an understanding of any special programs which may be operating and the specific needs of students
  • Work under the direction of teaching staff and the Learning Adjustment Leaders

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrate a passion for and experience in working with students with learning challenges
  • Demonstrate a capacity to work collaboratively with staff to adapt and implement learning tasks to meet the needs of individual children
  • Be flexible in dealing with changing and diverse needs of individual students
  • Have a Working with Children's Check, a National Police Check 
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate (preferred)
