Position Details

Cafeteria Assistant


Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a part-time, ongoing Cafeteria Assistant to become an integral part of the College’s Cafeteria team, commencing Term 2 2026 or as soon as practicable.  

We are seeking a bubbly, approachable and initative-driven individual who is committed to supporting the Chef Manager and working collaboratively with the cafeteria team to provide nutritious and appealing meals to staff and students. 

The Cafeteria Assistant will be in attendance Monday's to Friday's 10:00am to 2:00pm during the Term time only. 

The Cafeteria Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
•  Assisting in the preparation of menu items, following recipes and portion control guidelines 
•  Washing, chopping, slicing and preparing ingredients under the guidance of the Chef Manager 
•  Using correct chemicals on food preparation area and kitchen equipment, adhering to food, health and safety standards 
•  Serving and attending to students and staff in a professional, welcoming and friendly manner 
•  Handling cash and eftpos transactions, ensuring efficient and accurate use of the cash register
