Education Assistant - Learning Support
Full-Time, Temporary, until December 31st (with the possibility of continuing in 2027)
Applications are sought for a Special Needs Education Assistant at St Josephs School.
The role will require the successful applicant to be able to support teachers in providing an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment for students with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The role involves assisting students to access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and participate fully in classroom and school activities.
Selection Criteria
• Relevant Qualifications and Experience: Demonstrated qualifications in Education Support (Certificate III or IV or equivalent) and/or experience supporting students with special educational needs and/or disabilities in a school or similar setting.
• Understanding of Inclusive Education: Knowledge and understanding of inclusive education practices and strategies that support the learning, engagement, and wellbeing of students with diverse needs.
• Ability to Support Student Learning: Demonstrated ability to work with individual students or small groups to support learning activities, implement teacher-directed programs, and assist students to access the curriculum.
• Behaviour and Wellbeing Support: Experience supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs using positive behaviour support strategies and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
