Location Profile

Maffra Primary School is located in Maffra in Central Gippsland . In 2026 our workforce consisted of 11 equivalent full time classroom teachers, a Principal, one Assistant Principal and 2 part time learning specialists. There are 10 Education Support Staff, a full time Wellbeing Officer and part time Chaplain. Specialist staff consist of a music teacher, physical education teacher, art teacher and Auslan Teacher. 

Our school consists of 4 main learning hubs, a library, gymnasium, main office building, school kitchen and a before and after care building. Our grounds are well maintained and include basketball courts, football and soccer ovals, a range of adventure playgrounds and vegetable gardens.  

The student population is drawn from the township of Maffra and a wide surrounding area. Approximately 20% of our students are bus travellers. The school runs a comprehensive transition program for kindergarten families enrolling in the school and also for Grade 6 families who are enrolling at local secondary colleges. 

Maffra Primary operates a strong consistent instructional model across all year levels and key subject areas. Our key work in 2025 involves incorporating the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTML) and Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS) into our current teaching practices. Student voice and agency is a priority with regular goal setting. Professional Learning is ongoing with all staff committed to weekly involvement in professional learning teams.
